Abu Dhabi City Tour

One Capital. One Mosque. One Day That Should Not Be Rushed.

Most visitors to Dubai are told to “do a day in Abu Dhabi” — and most book the cheapest seat on the cheapest bus, leaving Dubai at 06:30, arriving at the Grand Mosque already exhausted, queueing for the same photograph as forty other people, and returning to Dubai at midnight wondering whether it was worth the effort.

It is. But not that way. Abu Dhabi is the most refined capital in the Gulf — quieter than Dubai, more architecturally serious, more culturally layered. The right way to see it is with one car, one chauffeur, and an itinerary that respects the city. GH Trips runs private Abu Dhabi tours from Dubai every day. Most guests leave at a civilised 09:00, return well before midnight, and remember the day as one of the highlights of their trip.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque — What You Need to Know

The Grand Mosque is the highlight of almost every Abu Dhabi tour. A few practical notes before you visit:

Dress Code

Modest dress is required for both men and women. Long trousers or a long skirt, sleeves to the wrist, no tight or transparent clothing. Women are also asked to cover their hair. The mosque provides free abayas at the entrance if you need one — but if you have your own modest clothing, the entry is faster.

Photography

Photography is allowed inside the prayer halls — but no posing, no jumping shots, and no inappropriate clothing. The chauffeur briefs you in the car before you arrive.

Visiting Hours

The mosque is open daily to visitors from approximately 09:00 to 22:00. Friday mornings are reserved for worshippers only — visitor entry begins at 16:30 on Fridays. We schedule your tour to avoid the closed period.

Crowds

Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days, and the late morning is the busiest part of the day. If you would like a quieter experience, we recommend arriving either at 09:00 or after 16:00. Your chauffeur knows when the tour buses arrive — and how to time the visit around them.

The Classic Abu Dhabi Tour

Below is the most-booked version of the day. Every stop is fully flexible — skip what does not interest you, linger longer where it does.

09:00  —  Pickup from Your Dubai Hotel

Your chauffeur arrives at the lobby fifteen minutes early. The cabin is cool, water is chilled, Wi-Fi is on. The Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi drive on the E11 takes ninety minutes in good traffic — most guests use it to relax, take a few photographs of the road, or simply enjoy a quiet morning conversation.

10:30  —  Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The first stop of every Abu Dhabi day. The world’s third-largest mosque, with eighty-two domes, the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet, and Swarovski chandeliers across the prayer hall. Your chauffeur drops you at the visitor entrance, advises on the dress code (abayas are provided free), and waits in the visitor car park while you take an unhurried ninety minutes inside.

12:30  —  Lunch on Saadiyat Island or the Corniche

Several beautiful options. We can recommend — or pre-book — Cipriani at the St Regis Saadiyat, Buddha-Bar Beach at Nation Towers, COYA Abu Dhabi at The Galleria, or Erth Restaurant for traditional Emirati cuisine. Your chauffeur drives you door to door.

14:30  —  Louvre Abu Dhabi

Jean Nouvel’s architectural masterpiece on Saadiyat Island. The “rain of light” dome alone justifies the visit; the rotating exhibitions inside justify a second. Your chauffeur waits in the museum car park while you explore for two to three hours.

17:00  —  Yas Island (Optional)

For families and motorsport fans, Yas Island is the next stop — Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld, the Yas Marina F1 circuit. We adjust the day to suit. For couples and culture-led guests, we usually skip Yas and head to the Qasr Al Watan presidential palace instead.

19:00  —  Sunset on the Corniche

A slow drive along the Abu Dhabi Corniche at sunset, with a stop at the Founder’s Memorial — a stunning installation depicting Sheikh Zayed in a vast aluminium portrait suspended in space. The chauffeur takes the photograph.

20:00  —  Dinner & Return

Dinner can be in Abu Dhabi (Emirates Palace, Qasr Al Hosn, the Galleria) or back in Dubai. Most guests prefer to leave Abu Dhabi around 20:30 and dine in Dubai at 22:00 — the chauffeur handles the timing.
