Abu Dhabi City Tour

One Capital. One Mosque. One Day That Should Not Be Rushed.

Most visitors to Dubai are told to “do a day in Abu Dhabi” — and most book the cheapest seat on the cheapest bus, leaving Dubai at 06:30, arriving at the Grand Mosque already exhausted, queueing for the same photograph as forty other people, and returning to Dubai at midnight wondering whether it was worth the effort.

It is. But not that way. Abu Dhabi is the most refined capital in the Gulf — quieter than Dubai, more architecturally serious, more culturally layered. The right way to see it is with one car, one chauffeur, and an itinerary that respects the city. GH Trips runs private Abu Dhabi tours from Dubai every day. Most guests leave at a civilised 09:00, return well before midnight, and remember the day as one of the highlights of their trip.

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque — What You Need to Know

The Grand Mosque is the highlight of almost every Abu Dhabi tour. A few practical notes before you visit:

Dress Code

Modest dress is required for both men and women. Long trousers or a long skirt, sleeves to the wrist, no tight or transparent clothing. Women are also asked to cover their hair. The mosque provides free abayas at the entrance if you need one — but if you have your own modest clothing, the entry is faster.

Photography

Photography is allowed inside the prayer halls — but no posing, no jumping shots, and no inappropriate clothing. The chauffeur briefs you in the car before you arrive.

Visiting Hours

The mosque is open daily to visitors from approximately 09:00 to 22:00. Friday mornings are reserved for worshippers only — visitor entry begins at 16:30 on Fridays. We schedule your tour to avoid the closed period.

Crowds

Saturdays and Sundays are the busiest days, and the late morning is the busiest part of the day. If you would like a quieter experience, we recommend arriving either at 09:00 or after 16:00. Your chauffeur knows when the tour buses arrive — and how to time the visit around them.

The Classic Abu Dhabi Tour

Below is the most-booked version of the day. Every stop is fully flexible — skip what does not interest you, linger longer where it does.

09:00  —  Pickup from Your Dubai Hotel

Your chauffeur arrives at the lobby fifteen minutes early. The cabin is cool, water is chilled, Wi-Fi is on. The Dubai-to-Abu Dhabi drive on the E11 takes ninety minutes in good traffic — most guests use it to relax, take a few photographs of the road, or simply enjoy a quiet morning conversation.

10:30  —  Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

The first stop of every Abu Dhabi day. The world’s third-largest mosque, with eighty-two domes, the world’s largest hand-knotted carpet, and Swarovski chandeliers across the prayer hall. Your chauffeur drops you at the visitor entrance, advises on the dress code (abayas are provided free), and waits in the visitor car park while you take an unhurried ninety minutes inside.

12:30  —  Lunch on Saadiyat Island or the Corniche

Several beautiful options. We can recommend — or pre-book — Cipriani at the St Regis Saadiyat, Buddha-Bar Beach at Nation Towers, COYA Abu Dhabi at The Galleria, or Erth Restaurant for traditional Emirati cuisine. Your chauffeur drives you door to door.

14:30  —  Louvre Abu Dhabi

Jean Nouvel’s architectural masterpiece on Saadiyat Island. The “rain of light” dome alone justifies the visit; the rotating exhibitions inside justify a second. Your chauffeur waits in the museum car park while you explore for two to three hours.

17:00  —  Yas Island (Optional)

For families and motorsport fans, Yas Island is the next stop — Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, Yas Waterworld, the Yas Marina F1 circuit. We adjust the day to suit. For couples and culture-led guests, we usually skip Yas and head to the Qasr Al Watan presidential palace instead.

19:00  —  Sunset on the Corniche

A slow drive along the Abu Dhabi Corniche at sunset, with a stop at the Founder’s Memorial — a stunning installation depicting Sheikh Zayed in a vast aluminium portrait suspended in space. The chauffeur takes the photograph.

20:00  —  Dinner & Return

Dinner can be in Abu Dhabi (Emirates Palace, Qasr Al Hosn, the Galleria) or back in Dubai. Most guests prefer to leave Abu Dhabi around 20:30 and dine in Dubai at 22:00 — the chauffeur handles the timing.

The Full-Day Option

Full-Day Dubai to Abu Dhabi City Tour with Private Driver

Built for guests who want to see the capital properly, not simply be driven there.

GH Trips already arranges Dubai to Abu Dhabi transfers in one-way, taxi and full-day formats. This section expands on the full-day option specifically — a chauffeur-driven Abu Dhabi day tour from Dubai.

What the Full-Day Tour Includes

  • Private pickup from any Dubai hotel, residence or airport.
  • An approximately 10-hour, fully customisable tour of Abu Dhabi.
  • A direct journey from Dubai to Abu Dhabi in a private vehicle — never shared with other passengers.
  • A professional, licensed and English-speaking chauffeur throughout the day.
  • A flexible itinerary, with more time spent at the attractions guests care about most.
  • Suitability for couples, families, corporate guests and private groups.

Vehicle Choices for the Day

GH Trips offers luxury sedans, SUVs, the Mercedes V-Class, vans and buses for this full-day Abu Dhabi tour from Dubai — the same fleet used across the company's other private chauffeur and Abu Dhabi city tour services, so groups of any size can be matched with a suitable car.

A Day Paced Around You

  • Comfortable waiting time built in between sightseeing stops, so nothing feels rushed.
  • Return drop-off anywhere in Dubai at the end of the day.
  • Child seats available on advance request, free of charge.

How the Price Is Structured

Every full-day Dubai to Abu Dhabi car with driver booking is quoted as a fixed price, with fuel, Salik tolls, parking and the chauffeur's charges clearly explained upfront. Attraction tickets and meals are identified separately from the transport price, since these vary by guest and are usually booked closer to the day.

Your Full-Day Tour Includes: door-to-door Dubai pickup and return, a private chauffeur-driven vehicle, a custom sightseeing itinerary, fuel, Salik and standard parking, bottled water, waiting time at scheduled attractions, and 24/7 booking assistance.

Full-Day Abu Dhabi Tour Itinerary from Dubai

Paired with the full-day Dubai to Abu Dhabi tour, here is how a typical day unfolds.

  • A direct journey to Abu Dhabi via the E11.

9:30 AM

Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque

  • The tour begins with Abu Dhabi's most recognisable cultural landmark.

11:30 AM

Guests can choose between:

  • Emirates Palace — for photographs and a short refreshment stop.

  • Drop-off at the original pickup point or another agreed Dubai location.

Abu Dhabi Tour FAQs

For the headline highlights — the Grand Mosque, the Louvre, the Corniche, optionally Yas Island — one day is enough. For a deeper experience including Saadiyat Island, Qasr Al Watan, Emirates Palace and a relaxed meal, two days are better. We are happy to design either.

Yes — particularly for the Grand Mosque. Modest dress to the wrist and ankle is required for both men and women, and women must cover their hair. The mosque provides free abayas if needed. Outside the mosque, Abu Dhabi is more relaxed but still more conservative than Dubai — modest clothing is appreciated.

Yes, but only after 16:30. Friday mornings are reserved for worship. We schedule the tour accordingly — usually starting later on Fridays and finishing with an evening Corniche drive.

In our experience — and in the opinion of almost every guest who has visited — yes. The architecture alone (the "rain of light" dome by Jean Nouvel) justifies the stop. The collection includes works by Da Vinci, Van Gogh, Monet, Picasso and a stunning Islamic-art wing.

Yes. We offer one-way and return Dubai-to-Abu-Dhabi chauffeur transfers as a separate service, without the sightseeing component. See our airport-transfer and private-chauffeur pages — or simply WhatsApp us for a quick quote.

Entry tickets to the Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan, Ferrari World and other attractions are not included in the standard tour but can be pre-booked through us and added to your invoice.

Absolutely. Yas Island in particular is one of the most family-focused destinations in the UAE. We fit child seats free of charge, drive gently with younger children on board, and the chauffeur adjusts the schedule around meal times and rest needs.

Yes. For guests with an evening flight from AUH, we collect from your Dubai hotel in the morning, run the full Abu Dhabi tour, and drop you at AUH at your scheduled time, with the chauffeur tracking your flight.

Yes — and it is one of our busiest weekends of the year. We recommend booking at least three weeks in advance for F1 weekend, as both the fleet and the Abu Dhabi hotels are heavily reserved.
